Weekend in Amsterdam - Central Station Amsterdam
      Weekend in Amsterdam
      August 2002

One of the weekends while on vacation in England, the kids were going to be spending the night with their Great-Aunt Joan and Uncle Dige. Andrew decided to use the opportunity to visit Amsterdam with his cousin Steven.

Andrew and Steven headed out of Chesterfield at 5:00 AM to catch the flight from East Midlands Airport to Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam. The quick, 1 hour, British Midlands (bmi) flight was made on a small jet (only 3 seats per row) which was really neat to fly in after all the 747's Andrew had been on lately.

Vincent van Gosh's Starry Night PaintingOur main objective for Amsterdam was the famous Vincent van Gogh Museum.

Ok, that didn't fool any of the relatives in England either.

Actually, as everyone was aware, this was going to be a "guys night-out" type of weekend, full of drinking, partying, and mischief. Do you really think Andrew would pass up an oppotunity to explore the more colorful (or should I say darker) side of Amsterdam.
As such, I have broken up this little adventure into two parts:

      • Sightseeing - A Walking Tour of Central Amsterdam
      • The Darker Side - Tour of the Red Light District and Amsterdam Coffeeshops

Please be forwarned that some of the material contained within The Darker Side web pages touches on subject matter that some might consider offensive or not suitable for those under the age of 18.

This web site does not condone nor does it condemn the subject matter contained with the Darker Side web pages. It simply presents them as a part of everyday life in Central Amsterdam.
