I had the opportunity to work with a group of engineers from Mindtree Consulting. Together with Vijendra Kuroodi, the Staff Engineer from my team in Milpitas, we spent a week on a major development effort. It was a great experience learning how a pure software services company works. This group was very professional and a lot of fun to work with. The team dynamics are vastly different than those I have experienced before. In the companies I have worked with, engineers are given less direction and more independence to define and direct their implementation. Whereas, with this team, there is a clear leader who defines and directs all activities. I think I may have thrown them off a bit with my particular style of managing, but they took it all in stride.
